I´m a big fan of Iittala. A Finnish design company, which has also some shops in Berlin. Scandinavian minimalism with a twist. Perfect. If you haven´t heard about it before, then it´s time to check their web page, they have an online shop as well. They have sale at the moment and I bought these four beautiful little (7cl) glasses few weeks ago as an early birthday present for myself. These are shot glasses but I will also use them for example for dips.

 

// Tätä tuskin tarvii kääntää sen kummemmin, me suomalaiset tiedämmekin kaikki mitä luultavammin Iittalan. Berliinissäkin on muutama Iittalan liike ja piipahdin heidän aleissa tuossa pari viikkoa sitten. Mukaan tarttui neljä kirkkaansinistä kaartio malliston snapsilasia. Ne oli niin söpöt, ettei niitä voinut jättää kauppaan. Niitä voi käyttää vaikkapa dippeihin. Olkoon nämä sitten etukäteissynttärilahja itselleni ;)

I have always been a big fan of contrasts, whether it´s  about colors, materials, shapes etc. But you know that by now for sure. But once again the one and only thing I had in mind when putting this outfit together was the mix of wool and silk. The heavy impression of  wool and the lightness of silk. This time the knit is not that heavy but it´s fine wool and bodyshaped, the skirt is floaty and lightweight. The knit is 100% wool and I bought it for 4 euro from Mauerpark flea market. The scarf is new, I got it for christmas but I chose it on my own already in October, so I knew about it in advance.  

 

// Olen aina ollut kontrastien suuri fani, oli sitten kyse väreistä, materiaaleista, muodoista jne. Mutta sen te varmaan jo tiesittekin. Jälleen kerran ainoa asia joka minulla oli mielessä kasaessani tätä asua yhteen oli villan ja silkin sekoitus. Villan raskas vaikutelma ja silkin keveys. Tällä kertaa tämä villaneule ei ole raskas ja muhkea mutta vartalonmyöteinen ja silkki taas kevyt ja liikkuvainen. Neule on 100% villaa ja se on löytö Mauerparkin kirpparilta kesällä neljällä eurolla. &Other Storiesin huivi on uusi. Sain sen joululahjaksi, mutta tiesin siitä kuitenkin jo etukäteen, sillä olin mukana valitsemassa sitä jo lokakuussa.

A day at Grunewald

 

These are pics of a day trip to Grunewald with my mother and my dog after christmas. Maybe it´s the Finn in me but I love nature. I like to live in a big city and especially in the center of a big ciy but I have to have the opportunity to escape somewhere quiet and close to nature. I like to go there alone or in company. In this dog area of Grunewald, the thing that almost everyone there has in common, is that they are dog owners. If you are in a mood for a small talk about dogs or the weather, that´s also so easy there. Everyone is friendly and in a good mood. That´s a great place to forgot at least for some hours all your problems and stress.

 

// Nämä ovat joulupyhinä otettuja kuvia reissusta Grunewaldiin äitini ja koirani kanssa. Suomalainen minussa voi olla syynä tähän mutta rakastan luontoa. Olen aina ollut suurkaupunkityttö, siksi Helsinki olikin minulle liian pieni. Tykkään asua suurkaupungissa aivan keskustassa mutta minulla täytyy olla mahdollisuus paeta jonnekin missä on hiljaista ja mikä on lähellä luontoa. Tykkään käydä Grunewaldissa yksin tai seurassa. Grunewaldin koiranulkoiluttamisalueella suurimmalla osalla ihmisistä on yksi yhteistä, he ovat koiranomistajia. Jos on juttelutuulella koirista tai säästä, niin se on helppoa siellä. Kaikki ovat ystävällisiä ja hyvällä tuulella. Se on mahtava paikka ainakin hetkeksi unohtaa murheet ja stressi.

DIY leather tassel pendants

 

This is the necklace I made for my mother for christmas. Made almost in the same way than the earrings few posts back.

 

// Tässä on se kaulakoru josta puhuin siinä nahkakorvisten tekoohjeessa pari postausta takaperin. Tein siis tämän itse ja annoin sen äidille joululahjaksi.

Just something easy, basic and boring. It doesn´t have to be always something mind blowing. COS wool dress, big Zara silk scarf, Bianco leather boots and a big smile.

 

// Helppoa, tylsää, perusjuttua. Ei aina tarvitse olla jotain tajunnanräjäyttävää. COSin villamekko, Zaran iso silkkihuivi ja Biancon nahkasaappaat höystettynä isolla hymyllä.

DIY leather earrings vol. 47583462

I love to make jewellery. I made my mother earrings and a pendant for christmas. Here I want to show you the earrings I made step by step.

 

I always start with one main thing, the pearls or the leather and than I think about the rest, what could be a perfect match with the color, what color does the person who gets them wear, etc. I thought about leather tassel earrings with pearls...

 

choosing the right pearls...

 

 

What color should the leather be? A craft knife and glue is needed...

 

eraser, pencil and a ruler too...

 

also steel wire and some tools...

 

 

take two pieces of the wire ( as long as you need, it´s your choice) and remodel one end of each piece (you can also buy these in craft shops ready in pieces with these ends)...

 

 

Cut a piece of the leather. Mine was around 10cm long and 6cm high. Then cut the tassels around 5cm long, so that there is one cm no cut..

 

Cut that piece in two..

 

 

put some glue on the other side of a piece and roll it around the wire piece so that the remodeled end is there where the tassels start.

 

 

Then it´s time for the pearls and remodeling the other end in the same way then the other. You need clips or the pieces for pierced ears. Between the ear piece and these pendants you need to make or to buy for each earring one roundish wire piece, like you can see in the result pic. That is needed for the earring to move smoothly when wearing them. My mother doesn´t have pierced ears, so I used clips.

 

Et voilà, here is the result:

 

 

I love them! I have to make these kind of earrings for myself too.

The winter weather in Berlin has been just perfect at least until now, I hope it stays that way. It´s not too cold to walk around with the coat open and the streets have not been icy, so you don´t have to think with what kind of shoes you could probably stay on your feet and not on your ass on the ground. Thermo tights are my best friends at this time of the year, they make dressing easy and comfortable. Here you can see another sale piece I found: a red wool knit from &Other Stories. 

 

 have never understood the sentence: comfortable high heels- they are always at some point of the day uncomfortable. Now I have found my kind of comfortable "high heels", means these Nike Dunk High´s. I don´t know if they are still sooo comfortable after 12 hours but 8 hours with them go eeeasy.

// Berliinin talvisää on tänä vuonna ollut kyllä ihanteellinen, toivottavasti pysyykin tällaisena. Ei ole liian kylmä kävellä takki auki päivät pitkät ja kadut eivät ole jäisiä, eli voi valita mitkä kengät tahansa hyllystä jalkaansa ajattelematta pysyykö pystyssä vai makaako hetken päästä takamuksellaan maassa. Termosukkahousut on tähän aikaan vuodesta mun ykköset, ne tekee pukeutumisesta niin helppoa ja ovat mukavat päällä. Kuvissa näkyykin eräs toinen alelöytö: &Other Storiesin punainen villaneule.

 

En ole koskaan ymmärtänyt lausetta " mukavat korkokengät", ne ovat aina epämukavat jossain vaiheessa päivää. Nyt olen löytänyt minun "mukavat korkoni", nimittäin nämä Niken Dunk Highsit. En nyt vielä osaa sanoa onko nämä 12 tunnin jälkeen edelleen niin huippumukavat mutta lupaavalta näyttää, sillä kahdeksan tuntia menee ihan helposti.

Kuvia ja kerrottavaa taas kasaantunut niin paljon, että parasta alkaa yhestä päästä purkaamaan! Nämä kuvat on otettu joulun jälkeisinä päivinä. Hieman oli tuossa vaiheessa jo uupunut olo kaikesta kauppojen kiertelystä ja kävelystä, että ihan surostaan laiskotti ottaa huivia pois ja esitellä asua sen kummemmin. Otetaan tämä asu uuden muhkean huivini esittelypsotauksena ;) COSin alelöytö tämä kaunokainen.
